About the role
Reporting to the Superintendent Operations Planning, as a Specialist Mine Planning engineer you will be engaged in providing designs, scheduling and execution direction around the +1 to 12 week time frame to our Broadmeadow Operation. Use your already solid mine planning skills and experience in this busy and challenging short-term mine planning role to develop effective working relationships with the operational teams, in order to ensure the efficient execution of your plans and schedules.
This is a great opportunity to hone your mine planning skills as you gain exposure to a variety of planning processes. There is also a component of this role that will support the geology and geotechnical function. Based at Broadmeadow Mine, this is a busy role within a small, friendly team with access to a supportive, inclusive and results-oriented leadership team.
In this role you will:
- Prepare designs and schedules for longwall, development and production support;
- Facilitate Short Range Forecast and Authority To Mine processes;
- Geology and geotechnical data entry and presentation;
- Liaise with off-site planning functions and neighbouring open cut mine;
- Identify and implement Mine Planning improvement initiatives;
As the successful candidate, you will have a tertiary education in Mining Engineering or Geoscience and demonstrated experience in a mine design and/or scheduling role.
A strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software packages are essential. Experience with Deswik and VentSim will be highly regarded.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must, allowing you to build relationships across departments and to communicate with disciplines at all levels. You will be capable of problem solving and working independently.
