About the role

BHP Billiton Iron Ore is one of the world's leading suppliers of iron ore. The Company's operations currently involve an integrated system of seven inland mines, more than 1,000 kilometres of rail and two separate port facilities; Nelson Point and Finucane Island at Port Hedland as part of our Western Australian Iron Ore (WAIO) business. Reporting to the Processing Production Manager within the Process Analysis & Improvement team your duties will include: 

  • Demonstrate commitment and conformance to the BHP Billiton Charter, the BHP Billiton Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations
  • Demonstrate and instil an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development
  • Lead, coach and mentor employees to deliver on plan and build a high performing team
  • Facilitate the development, implementation and maintenance of common standards including improvements to processes and systems
  • Coordinate the undertaking of process control to ensure plant production processes are predictable, stable and consistently operating at the target level of performance and within normal variation and
  • Manage and coordinate the portfolio of improvement initiatives through efficient resource management

About You

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mineral Processing, Process Engineering or metallurgy (or related discipline) or equivalent industry and/or organisational experience
  • 5 years’ experience in a relevant role
  • Experience leading and mentoring teams and an ability to provide leadership and development of supervisory staff within a mineral processing facility,supply chain processes or heavy industry
  • Substantial demonstrated project management experience
  • A proven track record of safety management

A Minimum of C class manual drivers licence is a requirement for this role.


You will be based at our 'Yandi' mine on a fly-in fly-out 5:2 4:3 roster.  Yandi is located approximately 170kms North of Newman West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, squash, tennis and basketball courts, golf driving range, mini golf, netted cricket pitch, beach volleyball court and recreation room. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, internet, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
