About the role
This role will provide you a high level of visibility at site within an established and successful team. There is a pipeline of large projects that will provide you with ideal career development and growth opportunities across the wider BHP Billiton Group. The Specialist Modifications and Small Projects role reports to the Engineering Superintendent, Modifications & Small Projects within the Engineering Department.
You will draw on your excellent leadership and technical capabilities to plan, manage and execute capital and OPEX projects and engineering work to support the sites five year capital and OPEX plans.
As part of a highly collaborative team, you will work with all internal and external stakeholders and manage engineering contractors to achieve the right outcome for the business. This role allows for professional development including step-up opportunities into the superintendent role from time to time.
This is a site based role at Goonyella Riverside Mine located 30 Km's north of Moranbah, with accommodation provided, this role is being offered on a Monday to Friday day shift only basis.
- Support the development of the site's five year capital and operational budgets through project development and delivery
- Manage the planning, safe execution, and commissioning of approved Modifications and Small Projects and deliver work on scope, schedule, cost and safety targets
- Engage the operation across all departments, including key internal and external stakeholders, suppliers and contractors
- Model complex problems and business cases to understand value propositions of projects, ensuring that business cases are clearly understood
- Proactively investigate and implement safety, productivity, and cost initiatives across site and
- Ensure that project studies and delivery meet the relevant BMA and Australian Standards.
As a degree-qualified Electrical or Mechanical engineer your experience in a similar role will be advantageous. You will be viewed favorably if additionally you possess a trade background (Boilermaker, Fitter, Electrician). You will have proficient project management skills within in the resources sector, or alternately, transferable heavy industry experience. You will have demonstrable ability to influence and build relationship with a range of stakeholders at all levels of a business. You will have contract and contractor management experience, including drafting, negotiation, tendering and variation management.
